Nick Stahl has been tapped to star in the archangel horror pic, “One Night in Purgatory’, featuring gruesome practical effects!
An archangel and some poor bastard walk into a bar…
Variety reports that Nick Stahl (pictured above) will star in One Night in Purgatory, a supernatural horror pic that sounds like a whole lot of fun.
Alejandro Edda (The Forever Purge), Grace Dove (The Revenant), and Michelle Mylett (Antisocial) also star.
Here’s the official synopsis: “One Night in Purgatory follows a rogue archangel (Stahl) who has just one night on Earth to convince a guilt-ridden lawyer (Edda) searching for redemption in a punk rock dive bar to represent him at a trial against God and the Devil if they can survive the night.”
Described as “a throwback to the days of gruesome practical effects and stories that blurred the lines of who’s good and who’s evil”, this has the sound of Legion, an aughts horror that has an angel defending humans in an isolated diner against other angels that have come to kill a special child.

Okay, so they’re almost nothing alike. But hey, there aren’t many angel horror films out there, minus the Prophecy franchise.
One Night in Purgatory sounds a hell of a lot more entertaining, though, with an 80s vibe and loads of nasty practical effects. Let’s hope this is as bloody and punk rock as it’s being described.
I’m especially curious with Stahl on board as the archangel. He’s always been magnetic on screen, appearing in movies like , and .
