But it’s Magaro’s description of The Bride! that’s most intriguing.
“Peter was kind enough to recommend me to his wife [Gyllenhaal] for The Bride!, so I had a really good time shooting it last spring. It’s a wild movie. It’s very different than The Lost Daughter,“ Magaro told THR.
“It’s like a mix of a Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers movie, Young Frankenstein, Frankenstein, Bonnie and Clyde and Badlands. It’s just a wild, fun ride. It’s something that people haven’t seen before, and I’m really excited to get it in front of an audience. It’s bonkers.“
That’s an interesting blend of films, with all signs pointing toward an ultra-stylized genre-bender ahead. While Magaro teases the film itself, there’s no word yet on who he’ll be playing in The Bride!
In the original 1935 film by director James Whale, “After recovering from injuries sustained in the mob attack upon himself and his creation, Dr. Frankenstein (Colin Clive) falls under the control of his former mentor, Dr. Pretorius (Ernest Thesiger), who insists the now-chastened doctor resume his experiments in creating new life. Meanwhile, the Monster (Boris Karloff) remains on the run from those who wish to destroy him without understanding that his intentions are generally good despite his lack of socialization and self-control.”
