An untitled UFO conspiracy thriller from Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski has ignited an out-of-this-world bidding war, THR reports.
Written by Zach Baylin (King Richard, Creed III), the package also includes legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer (Top Gun: Maverick, Pirates of the Caribbean, Armageddon).
Little is known about the plot, but it’s described as “All the President’s Men with UFOs.” No stars are attached and the budget range is unclear, but it is seeking a greenlight.
Part of the appeal is the veneer of authenticity to the pitch. Former United States Air Force officer David Grusch, who made headlines in 2023 when he testified before Congress that the government has been studying “non-human”spacecrafts and pilots, is said to be consulting on the project.
Amazon, Apple, Lionsgate, Paramount, and Warner Bros. are among the interested studios, with sources saying bidding is escalating “quickly and aggressively.”
No stranger to sci-fi thrills, Kosinski’s previously helmed Oblivion, Tron: Legacy, and Spiderhead. His next film, the Brad Pitt racing film F1, opens on June 27.
