New AMITYVILLE HORROR Movie In The Works From UNTIL DAWN’s David F. Sandberg

David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation, Until Dawn) is set to direct a new Amityville Horror movie for Amazon MGM Studios.
According to Deadline, who reported the news earlier today, Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing (The Autopsy of Jane Doe) will write the script for the new Amityville Horror, which is described as a “reimagining of the original horror classic”, presumably referring to 1979's Amityville Horror from director Stuart Rosenberg and not (sadly) 2022's Amityville in Space or 2023's Amityville Death Toilet.
No news yet on casting or plot details, or if Sandberg's Amityville Horror will stick to the source material surrounding the true crimes of Ronald DeFeo Jr., whose 1974 murder of his six family members, and the alleged paranormal influence involved, became one of the most adapted stories in horror history.
Per Deadline, The Safran Company’s Peter Safran and John Rickard will produce alongside Sandberg, with The Safran Company’s Natalia Safran being joined as executive producer by Lotta Losten.
News of Sandberg's directing comes hot on the heels of another Amityville movie currently in production from Joseph and Vanessa Winter, the writer-director duo behind 2022’s found footage horror Deadstream. As fans or followers of the world of Amityville know, this is a series that has refused to die since Jay Anson's 1977 novel which inspired Rosenberg's original film. Hell, we even invented an entire new category for Amityville films at the FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards back in 2023.
Look out for more on any and all upcoming Amityville horrors as news creeps in.
