Tim Cruz’s Supernatural Romance LADYBUG Hits Tubi This Thanksgiving

Artistic inspiration can come from lots of places – including the dead. Most people don’t fall in love with their muses if they’ve already passed away, but hey, this is horror, and nothing’s out of bounds, especially not for Ladybug, which hits Tubi next month after premiering at last year’s FrightFest.
Directed by Tim Cruz, who co-wrote the film with Anthony Del Negro, the film is produced by Shane O’Brien, Zach O’Brien, and Del Negro, and stars Scout Taylor-Compton, Zachary Roozen, Charlene Tilton, Nancy Stephens, Lisa Thornhill, and Cory Hart. Influenced by films like The Witch, Midsommar, Secret Window, and The Others, the film follows a young artist who falls in love with the spirit of a serial killer’s latest victim, only to draw himself into life-threatening danger. The film’s synopsis is as follows:
Reeling from a breakup, Grayson returns to his family’s dilapidated cabin in hopes of healing his shattered heart. His art agent, Wendy, urges him to find new inspiration and finish the remaining art pieces for their next collection. When procrastination strikes, Grayson finds an unlikely muse in his handyman, Sawyer, who encourages Grayson back to the canvas. As the nights progress, Grayson finds himself vigorously painting but he questions his own sanity and skills when the work is miraculously being finished at an alarming velocity. There is also no doubting his attraction to Sawyer, whose seductive intentions may be dangerous. The palpable tension between the two boils to the surface when they begin falling romantically for one another.
A sequel to the film is also in development, set a year after the events of the original film and following a pair of unsuspecting college students confronted by the spirits who are still haunting the narrative.
Ladybug is the first of two films directed by Cruz that are hitting digital and streaming in the next few months. Following on its heels is Don’t Let the Cat Out, a thriller starring Jordan James Smith and Cerina Vincent about a couple who kidnaps an innocent housesitter to use his body as a vessel for their dearly departed pet. That film is set to release in January, after premiering at this year’s Panic Fest.
