The Halloweenies continue a new October tradition! In 2023, co-hosts Michael Roffman and Dan Caffrey ventured to the Haddonfield Public Library to read Curtis Richards‘ excellent 1979 screen-to-page adaptation of John Carpenter‘s Halloween. Last year, they dusted off the late Dennis Etchison‘s, whose pseudonym Jack Martin is credited, 1981 novelization for Halloween II.
This year sees the two picking up where Etchison/Martin left off with 1982’s novelization for Halloween III: Season of the Witch. Together, they discuss the dreamy digressions, the timeless political themes wedged into the pages, the depiction of Challis, the possible inclusion of The Shape, and whether or not Etchison was ramping up for his screenplay for Halloween 4.
