ORPHAN 3 Gets Official Title As Filming Begins

Announced late last year, the third Orphan movie has officially entered production, with Discussing Film revealing a behind-the-scenes snap (seen below) that confirms the sequel's official title to be *drumroll please*… Orphans.
Yes, that's right – director William Brent Bell has done the Aliens meme and we couldn't be more excited. Returning for a third time as sweet little Esther is Orphan and Orphan: First Kill star Isabelle Fuhrman, with First Kill writer David Coggeshall also returning for script duties.
In both Orphan and First Kill, Fuhrman plays the titular villain, whose real name is Leena Klammer, a grown woman with a hormonal disorder that causes her to look like a nine-year-old girl. In both movies, Esther uses her diminutive stature to manipulate unsuspecting families (lead by Vera Farmiga and Julia Stiles in both films respectively) with murderous results.
Further cast additions and plot details for Orphans remain under wraps, with Fuhrman previously teasing to Bloody Disgusting, when asked where the film will sit in the official timeline (given that Esther met a watery fate in the first 2009 film, First Kill served as a prequel story), that Orphans can be classed as an “inbetweenquel”, meaning it presumably takes place between First Kill and Orphan. But does the plural noun mean that Esther is going to have an accomplice on her next bloody adventure? Or maybe she'll be the victim of a scam at the hands of some miniature maniacs this time around? Could we be retconning the ending of Orphan entirely, revealing that Esther survived her killing at the hands of Farmiga's Kate? Hey, it's horror – anything can happen.
In total, the two Orphan movies have grossed $125 million worldwide, so it should come as no great surprise that a sequel will be along soon enough, timeline quibbles aside. Look out for more updates on Orphans as we get them.
