Killer Shorts Offers New Opportunity For Horror Writers With The Scream List

After seven years of producing some of the most impressive short horror in Hollywood, Killer Shorts is moving away from screenwriting competitions to something a little more permanent. They’ve just announced their latest project, The Scream List, a year-round discovery platform for the best new voices in horror.
The Scream List is a specially curated selection of short film screenplays, focused entirely on horror, sci-fi and thriller stories that have been vetted by professionals, as a way to shine a light on emerging writers and give them year-round access to literary managers, producers, and other filmmakers. Backed by icons like Barbara Crampton, The Scream List will allow writers to connect with industry professionals immediately, rather than within the confines of screenwriting competitions, and provide a growing network of partners actively looking for bold, origins talent in the horror genre.
“The Scream List is our answer to a challenge we’ve seen for years: how to get more talented writers in front of the right industry professionals more often,” said Alison Parker, founder of Killer Shorts. “Now, when we discover a killer script through our coverage service, we can connect that writer with industry professionals year-round. Our readers know when they’ve found something special. Until now, that excitement ended with a great coverage score. With The Scream List, that recognition actually leads somewhere. A Recommend or an 8 can evolve into real industry momentum.”
Companies already signed on to support The Scream List include Bellevue Productions, Circle Management + Production, Zero Gravity Management, Alibi Entertainment, Ford Films, Grey Matter Productions, and Paper Street Pictures. Voted on weekly by Killer Shorts’ professional coverage service, the list will ensure only the most promising projects make the cut.
The Scream List is live now — you can check it out and find out more information on their website.
