The Nightmare Continues In New RETURN TO SILENT HILL Trailer

With Return to Silent Hill creeps closer to its January 23, 2026 release date, today brings a new international trailer that reveals more of the secrets lurking in that foggy town.
Starring Jeremy Irvine (The Woman in Black: Angel of Death) and Jigsaw‘s Hannah Emily Anderson, Return to Silent Hill is directed and co-written by Christophe Gans (2006's Silent Hill), along with Sandra Vo-Anh, and Will Schneider, and is a direct adaptation of Konami's 2001 psychological horror game classic Silent Hill 2.
However, per today's new trailer, it looks like there may be a few new additions to keep hardcore gamers on their toes. For example, a mysterious sickness seems like it will become more of a key plot point, whereas in the original Silent Hill 2 game, it's more of a passing lore hidden in the game's many notes and files.
In Return to Silent Hill:
“James (Irvine), a man broken after being separated from his one true love (Anderson). When a mysterious letter calls him back to Silent Hill in search of her, he finds a once-recognizable town transformed by an unknown evil. As James descends deeper into the darkness, he encounters terrifying figures both familiar and new and begins to question his own sanity as he struggles to make sense of reality and hold on long enough to save his lost love.”
Evie Templeton, who voiced Laura in Bloober Team's recent Silent Hill 2 Remake, also stars, with Silent Hill music maestro Akira Yamaoka returning for soundtrack duties.
Speaking with Variety, Gans teases the psychological horror horror that the Return to Silent Hill will focus on:
“I hope audiences will enjoy the thrill of journeying through a place that is not only a physical trap one has to survive, but also a mirror that exposes one’s own shortcomings and fears […] It’s a twisted and emotional ride through hell and back to save someone you love, all while having to face your own inner demons.”
Variety also tell us that Return to Silent Hill will also hit theaters on January 22 in Australia, Italy and the Middle East, on January 23 in the U.K., China, Spain and Poland, on February 4 in France, on February 5 in Germany and Greece, on March 12 in Brazil and on March 19 in Mexico.
Return to Silent Hill, which hits U.S. theaters on January 23, 2026 via Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting, comes as part of Konami's recent efforts to revive the long-dormant franchise, with the aforementioned Silent Hill 2 Remake and this year's Silent Hill f a hit with fans earlier this year, and the mysterious Silent Hill: Townfall still to come.
