Netflix UK has emerged victorious in a bidding war over genre pic Alpha, and Deadline reports that Carry-On actor Taron Egerton is being “circled” to star.

The project is described as a “fun, sexy, elevated genre title that explores the world of toxic masculinity, greed, and the mythos of success, a cross between American Psycho, the HBO Max series Industry, and American Werewolf in London.”

In Alpha, “a mild-mannered American analyst climbs the ranks of a ruthless London investment firm, only to discover a horror more frightening than the industry itself: the insatiable monster awakening within him.”

Adam Goldworm’s Aperture Entertainment and Tory Tunnell and Joby Harold’s Safehouse are producing the new werewolf project.

Goldworm is also producing Ankle Snatcher at Sony, How to Sell a Haunted House at Legendary, and Dennis Widmyer & Kevin Kolsch’s The Swallow.

As for Egerton, this isn’t the only Netflix project on the way from the actor. He’ll next be seen in Apex, a survival thriller described as Free Solo meets Silence of the Lambs, starring Charlize Theron.

Hopefully, that’ll hold us over until we can learn more about Netflix UK’s werewolf feature Alpha. Including whether it’ll receive a title change, as Julia Ducournau’s (Raw, Titane) new movie Alpha still awaits a stateside release.

Stay tuned.
