Next year’s Scream 7 looks to be the ultimate Scream reunion, with original Scream writer Kevin Williamson directing and the cast including Neve Campbell, Matthew Lillard, David Arquette, Courteney Cox, Scott Foley, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown.
How are dead characters coming back to life? And will Skeet Ulrich also be making an appearance in Scream 7? If we’re to believe Ulrich’s answer to that second question in a new chat with New York Post, we shouldn’t expect to see Billy Loomis on the big screen next year.
“I’m not involved. I’m really excited though,” Ulrich tells NY Post. “I’m excited for Kevin Williamson to take the helm and to see what the mastermind of it all comes up with.”
Skeet Ulrich notes during the conversation that he was attached to the previous iteration of Scream 7, which was ultimately scrapped in the wake of Melissa Barrera’s firing.
“I used to know [what the movie was about],” Ulrich explains, “because part of coming back for five and six was being a part of seven. It was a three-picture arc for Billy Loomis, or the imagination of Billy Loomis in Melissa Barrera’s character’s head. But when all that went down with her, obviously you lose her and you lose what’s in her head.”
“I used to know what the seventh was going to be and it was really, really interesting,” Ulrich goes on to explain. “Now I have no clue. I don’t know how [Matthew Lillard’s] back. I have no idea, which I’m kind of excited for, to see it and not know.”
Scream 7 will be slashing into theaters on February 27, 2026.
Here’s the new plot synopsis: “When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.”
