The Littles, a horror short from “American Horror Stories” producer and bestselling author Andrew Duplessie, is being turned into a feature.

Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures and 18hz, the production company of producer Walter Hamada (IT, The Conjuring), have acquired the rights to the 7-minute short.

Duplessie is set to expand his work as writer and director on the feature.

The short integrates live action with stop-motion animation from Anthony Scott (The Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline) and puppets sculpted by Katy Strutz (Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio).

It follows 11-year-old Juliet, who in stubbing her toe on a loose floorboard, unwittingly sets off a series of mysterious events. As she investigates, Juliet finds herself pulled into a chilling, otherworldly encounter — one that will unravel the secrets of her home and alter her reality forever.

Violet McGraw (“The Haunting of Hill House”), Janel Parrish (“Pretty Little Liars”), and Dominic Sherwood (“Shadowhunters”) star.

“I’m thrilled to be partnering with 18hz to bring The Littles to life as a feature,” Duplessie told Deadline. “I’ve always loved the art of stop motion especially when it’s combined with horror, and the response to this short has been truly inspiring. I can’t wait to work with 18hz to expand this universe and show the rest of the world what lurks beneath their floorboards.”

Recently reupping its production pact with Paramount, Hamada’s 18hz is next set to release Johannes Roberts’ Primate on January 9.
