Almost 30 years after giant snake horror movie Anaconda scared up $136 million at the box office, the franchise returns this Christmas with a meta comedy reboot.
Anaconda (2025) starring Paul Rudd and Jack Black slithers into theaters on December 25, and original Anaconda star Ice Cube has spilled the beans about a cameo.
Rudd and Black play best friends who attempt to remake Anaconda and end up in their own real-life horror movie in Anaconda, and it sounds like the unique concept has allowed for Ice Cube to play himself in the reboot of the movie he starred in back in the late 1990s.
Ice Cube tells People at the Los Angeles premiere of the new movie, “It’s cool to do a cameo, to kind of make it go full circle in a way. When they asked me to do it, when I knew the kind of movie they were doing, I jumped at it. I’m like, ‘This is something different. It’s cool.'”
He teases, “People probably get a kick out of me popping on the screen.”
Thandiwe Newton (“Westworld”), Steve Zahn (“Silo,” Joy Ride), Selton Mello, Ione Skye (Say Anything, Haunt), and Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad) also star.
In Anaconda‘s big screen return, “Best friends Doug and Griff have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favorite movie: the cinematic classic, Anaconda. But things get real when an actual giant anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a deadly situation. The movie they’re dying to make? It might just get them killed.”
