It’s clear to me now that Mortal Kombat II understood the assignment, upping the ante in every way, and bringing the classic horror-tinged video game to life perfectly.
I want to bask in the perfect image of Karl Urban as Johnny Cage – a washed-up action star sitting alone at a convention booth – alongside the studio’s brilliant faux poster for Uncaged Fury, one of Johnny’s in-universe movies. It looks like a DTV movie from the early 2000s, and it’s hilarious. I simply cannot wait for May 8.
Mortal Kombat II follows “the fan favorite champions — now joined by Johnny Cage himself — as they are pitted against one another in the ultimate battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn (Martyn Ford) that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.”
