Shudder and IFC have unveiled a trio of new posters for Faces of Death, arriving in theaters April 10, and one is already stirring conversation, with Charli xcx noticeably blurred and redacted in a deliberately obscured design that leans into the film’s “sensitive content” warning and voyeuristic themes.
The poster art itself is hazy and distorted, as if partially censored or scrubbed, reinforcing the film’s fixation on what can and can’t be seen – and what might be intentionally hidden. Brilliant campaign.
“Faces of Death continues the exploration of the original film’s infamous ‘Is it real or not?’ conceit, as a woman (Barbie Ferreira) working as a content moderator for a major video platform discovers what appears to be re-enactments of murders from the original film. In an online world where nothing can be trusted, she must determine whether the violence is fiction or unfolding in real time.”
Directed by CAM’s Daniel Goldhaber, the new Faces of Death is co-written by Isa Mazze and stars Barbie Ferreira, Dacre Montgomery, Josie Totah, Charli XCX, and Jermaine Fowler.
