‘Together’ filmmaker Michael Shanks has teamed up with Adam McKay for a mysterious new sci-fi comedy. Expect it to get weird.
Director Michael Shanks blew audiences minds with his wild body horror debut feature, Together. No surprise then that new projects have begun to roll in for the filmmaker, as THR reports today that Shanks has teamed up with Adam McKay (Don’t Look Up) for an untitled sci-fi comedy.
Sony Pictures has picked up the film, with Shanks writing and McKay attached to direct.
McKay will produce with Todd Schulman via their Hyperobject Industries banner.
Also producing are Andrew Mittman via his 1.21 Pictures, while the studio’s Kai Dolbashian will exec produce.
At this time, there are no plot details. Though, based on the past work of the filmmaking team, expect this one to be, er, out there.
Next up from Shanks is Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel starring Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out), a sci-fi thriller from A24 about a man who wakes up trapped in a mysterious hotel room.
In their review of Together for Dread, Zachary Lee described the film as, “Grisly, propulsive, and gleefully buoyed by its vicious conflation of domestic angst and body horror.”
