‘Other Mommy’ Trailer Reactions: Rob Savage’s Next Horror Film “Looks Insane”
The first trailer for Rob Savage’s ‘Other Mommy’ just played at Cinemacon, and it “looks insane” by all accounts.

Universal Pictures just shared the first trailer for Other Mommy at CinemaCon in Vegas. Based on early reactions, it sounds as if the next horror film from director Rob Savage (Host, The Boogeyman) is going to get nuts.
Based on the novel Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman (Bird Box), Other Mommy is described as a supernatural trip into the darkening world of a young girl as her family, and their home, are haunted by a sinister entity that is determined to take up residence inside her. But first, it needs to persuade her to let it in… by looking exactly like her mother.
The cast includes Oscar winner Jessica Chastain (It Chapter Two), Jay Duplass (Transparent), Arabella Olivia Clark (Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere) and Dichen Lachman (Severance).
TheWrap provides a lengthy description of the trailer, saying, “It looks very creepy. In the trailer, Chastain’s character cooks her daughter a meal in what seems to be a sweet scene. She then asks her daughter if she remembers when the two of them were one person. The food Chastain is cooking starts to burn as she tells her daughter that they used to be one person “in her heart.” Tears start streaming down her face.
The outlet continues, “Jay Duplass’ character then enters the room and tells his daughter that she needs an adult to cook. The daughter says that her mom was there. We then see a twisted, contorted creature hiding under the counter, who then runs through the glass door. The trailer then reveals that Jessica Chastain is, indeed, the girl’s mother, but that there is also an “other mommy” monster who is haunting them. Several tense scenes quickly flash through, including one where the other mommy bursts through a ball pit in a car to grab the daughter.”
“Jessica Chastain’s Other Mommy looks insane,” writes Brandon Davis. “An identical imposter mom shows up and starts terrorizing a family, starting with a little girl who can sense things are off. Classic horror beats like the “other” mom jump scare appearing and just some wild beats.” “
