Growing up as a kid of the ’80s and ’90s, Happy Meal toys were a huge deal in my family. Trips to McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, and Pizza Hut usually meant chasing the latest TV or movie tie-in collectibles, especially the tiny vehicles. My favorites were the Tiny Toon Adventures cars from McDonald’s, goofy little rides that somehow felt just as important as the meal itself.
That same feeling hit me again with Funko Mystery Minis Spooky Rides, mystery-box vinyl figures pairing horror icons with miniature vehicles from Gremlins, Scooby-Doo, and Beetlejuice.
The standout is easily Gizmo riding in a tiny pink Corvette, a direct callback to the finale of Gremlins (1984), when Gizmo races the toy car through the department store to stop Stripe during the film’s final battle. Silly? Absolutely. But for anyone raised on fast-food promo toys, it feels weirdly perfect.
