Experiment 11, a new horror project from the creators of Scare Tactics and The Blair Witch Project, is set to begin production next month in Canada, reports Deadline.
Scare Tactics creator Kevin Healey will direct the film from his original story and screenplay. Healey is also producing alongside executive producers Eduardo Sanchez and Gregg Hale, the creators and producers behind The Blair Witch Project.
The film is set inside a mysterious medical research facility where a group of participants are forced into a rapidly escalating experiment with consequences tied to the future of humanity.
Corey Tindall and Carson Howell of Tillt Studios are also serving as executive producers alongside Anthony Standberry of iThink Productions.
Producing for Ontario-based studio High Park Entertainment are Eric Birnberg, Thomas Walden, Thomas Vencelides, and Lainie Elton. The company’s previous credits include Out Come the Wolves and Trigger Point.
The film will be introduced to buyers at this year’s Cannes Market through Prestige International Pictures.
“I’ve spent much of my career exploring the intersection of horror, realism, and social experimentation, so Experiment 11 feels like the culmination of everything I love creatively,” Healey said in a statement.
“To now be collaborating with Eduardo Sanchez and Gregg Hale — whose work on The Blair Witch Project fundamentally changed immersive horror for an entire generation — is surreal for me personally.”
He added: “This film is ambitious, experimental, psychologically intense, and designed to blur the line between cinematic storytelling and reality in a way audiences haven’t experienced before.”
