Jeepers Creepers and Tusk star Justin Long continues to load up on genre projects after breaking out again in Zach Cregger’s Barbarian. Next up, he’ll go head-to-head with a swarm of bees.
Long will star in the survival thriller Stung alongside Iris Apatow (Unstable, The Bubble), Variety reports, noting that the film will reunite Long with Coyotes director Colin Minihan.
Set against a backdrop of suburban isolation and mounting paranoia, Stung follows four teenage girls whose innocent sleepover turns into a nightmare when they become trapped inside a luxury Orange County home overrun by a massive swarm of Africanized killer bees.
“Stung taps into a very primal fear,” said Minihan. “You’re trapped, isolated, and under attack from something unstoppable. But beneath the horror, it’s also a story about friendship, trust, and survival under pressure.”
Interestingly, Minihan and Long had been developing a remake of the director’s breakout Grave Encounters, although there’s no word on what’s happening with that project.
Long is also attached to star in both horror films Hellhound and Lice.
Stung is produced by Andre Relis and Jib Polhemus, with VMI Worldwide set to introduce the film to international buyers at Cannes.
