Set amongst raging bushfires, a mother and son must escape an abusive father in the trailer for thriller ‘Cruel Hands’, arriving this summer.
Just a few days after Father’s Day, Dark Sky Films has released a trailer for Cruel Hands, a bad dad film with a guy who looks like he absolutely would not belong on my list of good fathers in horror movies.
Set during Australia’s catastrophic 2019 “Black Summer” bushfires, Cruel Handsfollows Maria and her 12-year-old son Dai as they flee her violent husband and seek refuge in an abandoned farmhouse. As fires rage across the region and emergency services struggle to locate the missing family, Maria attempts to build a safe new life for her son while Jason relentlessly hunts them through the smoke-filled wilderness. Trapped between a deadly natural disaster and the man they are trying to escape, mother and son are pushed to their limits in a tense and emotional fight for survival with devastating consequences.
Mavournee Hazel (Neighbours), Josh McConville (The Invisible Man), Diesel La Torraca (Lambs of God), Harry Greenwood (The Nightingale) and GenevièveLemon (The Power of the Dog) star.
Al Kalyk directed and co-wrote the film with Matthew Kalyk. He also produced alongside Ashley McLeod.
Cruel Hands gets a grip on audiences when it released in theaters and on digital July 24th via Dark Sky Films.
