New ‘Hellraiser: Revival’ Dev Diary Opens the Box on the Game’s Many Villains [Watch]

The Cenobites will soon unleash sweet suffering upon players in Hellraiser: Revival, based on the iconic characters created by Clive Barker decades ago. But they aren’t all that players will have to deal with. In a new video released by Saber Interactive, the devs detail the many other villains of the game…and the pain that will come with facing them.

Notes Saber: “Horror fans will of course be familiar with the Cenobites, the infamous beings of extraordinary power from the Hellraiser films led by Pinhead. Demons to some, angels to others, the Cenobites don’t abide by easy rules of morality, instead driven to push the extreme boundaries of pain and pleasure. But while the Cenobites play a pivotal role in the story, players will have to battle against two other key factions.

The first is the Scarlet Church, a cult led by a charismatic figure named Marlowe. The Church hopes to establish contact with the Cenobites and seeks to use the mysterious Genesis Configuration puzzle box to create a debauched paradise for themselves.

The other group is the Unworthy, once-human wretches who sought after the ultimate experiences of sensation but were denied by Leviathan, ruler of the otherworldly Labyrinth. These rejects of Hell, monsters who think and behave differently from the cultists of the Church, are drawn to the Genesis Configuration as a potential path to redemption.“

All this means to me is we’ll have more opportunities/fiends to rip our way through. No waste of good suffering, here.

Here’s the official synopsis: “Embark on a battle for survival against Hell’s armies with a terrifying new story in the Hellraiser universe in Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival!

“Descend into the darkest depths of the underworld to rescue your love from the depraved clutches of the Cenobites. Face your deepest fears against deviant wretches, cultists and creatures with the infernal powers of the Genesis Configuration puzzle box and an arsenal of earthly weapons.”

There will be two editions to choose from. Details are expected closer to launch.
