Actor Kumail Nanjiani is set to make his directorial debut with werewolf comedy ‘Howl’ for Amazon MGM Studios’ Orion Pictures.
If you follow Dread closely at all, then you likely know by now how much I love werewolf movies. So, you bet I was excited to learn via Deadline that Amazon MGM Studios’ Orion Pictures has acquired Howl, Kumail Nanjiani‘s (pictured above in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire) werewolf comedy marking his directorial debut!
The film “follows a famous but notoriously troubled actor who announces on a talk show that in less than an hour, he’ll turn into a werewolf… on live TV.”
Howl may not be an original title (there’s already a great werewolf film set on a train with the title), but I love this concept. It sounds like the ending of my personal favorite werewolf movie, The Howling, expanded into a full feature.

As for Nanjiani, who will also star in the film, the actor always delights in anything he does. From his recent hilarious cameo in Over Your Dead Body to films like The Big Sick, he always makes his presence felt. An entire feature about him possibly turning into a werewolf sounds like comedy gold. I want to howl at the moon already.
