Sony Screen Gems has won a bidding war over the supernatural horror film Mime, reports Deadline.
There’s no official logline, but the outlet notes that they’ve heard it’s a movie set in an NYC apartment complex during a heat wave blackout.
John David Washington (Tenet) stars.
Nikyatu Jusu (Nanny, pictured above) directs from a script by Stephen Herman (Black Box).
Matt Tolmach and Scott Derrickson (Sinister) are set to produce under the Crooked Highway banner alongside Camila Grove. Washington will also produce.
Jusu came on strong with Nanny, her debut feature, which won the 2022 Sundance Grand Jury Prize. It’s the first horror film to take the festival’s top honor, no small feat.
Production is intended to begin next Spring.
