We have our first trailer for Ryan Murphy’s ‘Monster: The Lizzie Borden’ story, teasing a stylish and bloody take on the axe murderer.
Ryan Murphy is bringing one of America’s most infamous true-crime cases to Netflix next month in Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, and today, we have our first bloody trailer.
The fourth season of Murphy’s hit Monster anthology series, Lizzie Borden is a retelling of the infamous 1892 axe murders that made Lizzie Borden one of the most enduring figures in true-crime history.
We’ve had a good handful of Lizzie Borden adaptations, but with Murphy behind the project, this one has a different flavor. The trailer teases a blood-soaked psychological breakdown, with piano keys creating a chilling atmosphere over striking imagery. Coming from Murphy, the trailer screams “sexy and stylish”. Whether or not that fits Lizzie Borden, that’s what fans have come to expect from the filmmaker.
Leading the cast is Ella Beatty, daughter of Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, as Lizzie Borden. She stars alongside Charlie Hunnam as Lizzie’s father, Andrew Borden; Rebecca Hall as her stepmother, Abby; Billie Lourd as her sister, Emma; Jessica Barden as her close friend, Alice Russell; and Vicky Krieps as the Borden family’s maid, Bridget Sullivan. Sarah Paulson will also appear as notorious serial killer Aileen Wuornos.

Following Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, and the upcoming Monster: The Ed Gein Story, Murphy’s anthology now turns its attention to one of the most notorious murder cases in American history.
Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story premieres exclusively on Netflix on September 17, 2026.
