‘The X-Files’ Creator Christ Carter Believes Mulder and Scully Will Appear in Ryan Coogler’s Reboot

Chris Carter, the creator of The X-Files, will see his director’s cut of The X-Files: I Want to Believe – Vrach Frankenshteyn hit Hulu this Friday (read our review). In the meantime, he’s out here dropping potential bombshells regarding Ryan Coogler‘s (Sinners) reboot. Namely, the filmmaker has offered some thoughts on whether stars Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) will appear in the new take.

While speaking with Polygon recently, Carter had this to say: “At least Gillian, I think, is going to appear in the Coogler version. And I’m assuming David will too, so you will see Mulder and Scully there.”

Now, take this with a grain of salt, because Carter himself admits that he hasn’t seen the reboot yet. So, this may just be speculation on his part (though I’d be shocked if he doesn’t actually know). Given that, it sounds like there’s a very good chance one or both stars appear in Coogler’s upcoming take.

That wasn’t the only fun nugget offered by the man who created one of the most successful TV series of all time. When asked about returning to The X-Files, Carter added, “I would love to do either another reboot, or another movie. My ideas going forward are big ideas. Whether they’re a TV series or a movie, I don’t know, but I have big plans.”

Big plans, eh? That should thrill X-Files fans everywhere, whatever those plans may be.

I’m as excited as the next person about Coogler’s version, but it would be great to have Carter still playing in The X-Files universe somehow. Whether or not any of this happens, we’ll see, but…I want to believe.
