Buckle up; it’s going to get bumpy when André Øvredal’s supernatural horror movie Passenger begins haunting Paramount+ on Thursday, August 20 in the United States.
The film stars Jacob Scipio (Bad Boys: Ride or Die, The Mother), Lou Llobell (Foundation, Voyagers), and Academy Award winner Melissa Leo (The Fighter, Frozen River).
Passenger follows a young couple whose van-life adventure takes a seriously fucked-up detour after they witness a gruesome highway accident. Unfortunately, they don’t leave the crash scene alone.
A demonic presence known as the Passenger has latched onto them, turning their trip into a nightmare as the entity refuses to stop until it claims them both.
In our review, Josh Korngut writes that “while Passenger offers some striking aesthetics, a clumsy emotional engine and forced religious themes leave its horror DOA.”
The film comes from André Øvredal, the filmmaker behind Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, The Autopsy of Jane Doe, and The Last Voyage of the Demeter.
The film now joins a pretty stacked horror library on Paramount+, including the Scream, Smile, and A Quiet Place franchises, along with Apartment 7A and Vicious.
