Marvel has set a date for Ghost Rider, with the new take starring Ryan Gosling set to roar into theaters July 2028.
During San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel dropped a bombshell, announcing that Ryan Gosling (Project Hail Mary) would play Ghost Rider in a new movie. Now, IGN reports that the studio has set an official date, with Ghost Rider roaring into theaters on July 28th, 2028!
Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine) will direct the supernatural blockbuster.
There’s still a lot we don’t know about this Ghost Rider, including which Ghost Rider Gosling is actually playing.
We know Gosling has campaigned to play the character for years, and finally got his wish. Yet neither Kevin Feige nor the actor revealed whether he’ll portray the classic Johnny Blaze, Danny Ketch, Robbie Reyes, or another incarnation of the Spirit of Vengeance. That mystery remains one of the project’s biggest unanswered questions.
On the casting side, a recent report from TheInSneider‘s Jeff Sneider suggested Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, The Wheel of Time) is being eyed to join the film as the female lead and romantic interest opposite Gosling.
I don’t know about you all, but I can’t wait to watch Gosling in the role. Granted, I’ve been hurt before. Nicolas Cage played the character in the 2007 Ghost Rider and its sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Both are total duds. But they should’ve been great with Cage, who I thought was perfect at the time. Still, any new swing at the property is going to perk up my ears, especially with talent like Gosling involved.
Stay tuned to Dread as we learn more about the project.
