Variance has set a date for the Kevin Bacon slasher film ‘Family Movie’, stabbing into theaters April 2027!
Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are getting the family together for the slasher film Family Movie, which Deadline reports has set a theatrical date for April 23rd, 2027, via Variance.
Co-directed by the duo, both will star in the meta horror comedy alongside their real-life children, Sosie Bacon (Smile) and Travis Bacon.
Here’s the official synopsis:
“A filmmaking family’s low-budget horror movie turns into a real-life slasher when a dead body shows up on set. Chaos ensues as the Smiths fight to keep the production on track. After all — the show must go on!”
Liza Koshy (Boo! A Madea Halloween), John Carroll Lynch (“American Horror Story”), Jackie Earle Haley (A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010), Andrea Savage (“Tulsa King”), Austin Amelio (” The Walking Dead”), and Scoot McNairy (Monsters) also star.
Dan Beers (Premature) wrote the script.
Said Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, “The entire process of making Family Movie has been a true labor of love and after seeing the audience reactions at multiple film festivals around the world, we knew this movie had to be experienced in the theater. While we considered traditional distribution options, we decided to put our faith in our film, the audience, and the evolving landscape of independent film and go straight to the theaters with this fun crowd pleaser.”
The film world premiered at SXSW and currently sits at a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. I’d say they’re right to have faith in the project.
