Stephen Kalyn Officially Joins ‘The Housemaid’s Secret’ Cast
It’s official! Stephen Kalyn of ‘Off Campus’ has joined ‘The Housemaid’s Secret’ cast after rumors began last month.
Back in July, rumors flew that Stephen Kalyn (pictured above in Whistle) would join Lionsgate’s The Housemaid’s Secret cast. Now, Variety reports that the Off Campus actor has officially signed onto the project.
Kalyn joins Sydney Sweeney and Michele Morrone, as well as Kirsten Dunst (Interview with the Vampire), Paul Anthony Kelly (Love Story) and Brittany Snow (X).
“Based on Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel, the sequel picks up as Sweeney’s Millie, who works as a live-in maid for wealthy families, takes a new job — this time keeping house for a woman she’s never allowed to see. Like the initial story, Millie’s employers (Dunst and Kelly portray the spouses) are harboring a dark, sinister secret. Snow will play the character Marybeth, an unassuming receptionist at the husband’s company.”
Paul Feig is back to direct alongside screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine, who adapted the first book.
Dunst plays the mysterious Mrs. Garrick with Kelly as her husband, Douglas Garrick. Snow will play Marybeth, an unassuming receptionist at the Mr. Garricks’ company, while Michele Morrone returns as Enzo, reprising his role from the first film. And then, of course, there’s Sweeney, reprising her role as Millie, the first film’s “housemaid”.
Kalyn will play Brock, Millie’s lawyer boyfriend who knows nothing about her criminal past.
Still a relative newcomer, Kalyn has found great success lately, appearing in multiple episodes of both Gen V and Off Campus, as well as opening the horror film Whistle with a scream.
Feig will produce with Todd Lieberman of Hidden Pictures, Laura Fischer of Pretty Dangerous, and Sweeney through Fifty-Fifty Films.
Lionsgate has expressed interest in turning The Housemaid into a full-fledged franchise, so expect more if is a success.
