You’ve never seen a sentient hand horror movie like this.
Chroma has released a trailer for The Restoration at Grayson Manor, and words cannot do justice to how insane it looks.
Here’s the official synopsis: Glee’s Chris Colfer stars as Boyd Grayson, a hedonistic heir who torments his legacy-obsessed mother, played by genre icon Alice Krige (Sleepwalkers). When an accident leaves Boyd handless, she rebuilds him with prosthetics wired to his subconscious, hands that act on his most violent urges. Inside their decaying Gothic estate, those hands unleash horrors on Grayson Manor.
Daniel Adegboyega, Declan Reynolds, Gabriela Garcia Vargas, Matthew McMahon, Issac Cairns and Dave Byrne also star.
Glenn McQuaid (I Sell the Dead) directed from a script he co-wrote with author Clay McLeod Chapman (Ghost Eaters).
In his review for Dread out of Fantastic Fest 2025, Matthew Jackson called the film, “A haunting, hilarious queer melodrama”.
I love everything about the trailer below. Sentient hand films are traditionally pretty silly (see Idle Hands and The Hand starring Michael Caine), but Grayson Manor appears to take the absurdity to another level. I’m especially excited about Alice Krige in the cast, as she always delivers a standout performance and has been a mainstay in the genre for decades. This reminds me of her Sleepwalkers role, where she had a twisted relationship with her character’s son. Based on the few bits we see of her in the trailer, it already looks like she has another memorable portrayal in store.
Look for The Restoration at Grayson Manor when it crawls into theaters this October.
