Pop goes the zombie.
Sony Pictures has shared a fun little behind-the-scenes video from Resident Evil, taking us onto the set as Zach Cregger directs one particularly disgusting practical effect: a giant, blood-filled bubble bursting all over the place.
And yes, Cregger looks absolutely delighted.
As we’ve been covering extensively here on Dread Central, Cregger’s Resident Evil isn’t directly adapting one of the video games, but instead attempts to recreate the actual experience of playing them.
The all-new story follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier sent into Raccoon City whose seemingly simple assignment turns into a nonstop fight for survival.
Cregger has loaded the film with familiar Resident Evil elements, including Umbrella, infected dogs, green herbs, healing spray, typewriters and even sequences that shift into a first-person perspective. The MPA has also officially rated the film R for “strong bloody violence, gore and language throughout.”
Which brings us back to that giant bubble of blood.
