Sarah Catherine Hook Set to Star in Giant Python Movie ‘Crush’ from ‘The Pope’s Exorcist’ Director
Sarah Catherine Hook has been tapped to star in the giant python movie ‘Crush’ from the director of ‘The Pope’s Exorcist’.
Sarah Catherine Hook (pictured above in The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) is set to star in 20th Century Studios’ giant python movie Crush, reports Deadline.
Julius Avery (The Pope’s Exorcist) directs from a script by John Fischer, which was snatched up last fall during a multi-studio bidding war.
Though we still don’t have official plot details, Deadline previously noted that “sources said the film follows a woman hiking alone in the Everglades who wakes to find herself trapped in the crushing coils of a massive python, fighting to stay alive as every breath brings her closer to death.”
The film is supposedly inspired by true events and told primarily in real time.
A real-time Python horror movie with a woman struggling to escape its grasp? Now that sounds intense!
Scott Glassgold will produce for his 12:01 Films alongside Temple Hill. J.R. Young will oversee for 20th Century Studios.
The Pope’s Exorcist was good, dumb fun, but what excites me with Avery attached is his work on Overlord. The WWII horror film features a few incredibly intense sequences that had me gripping my seat (especially that opening). If Avery can bring some of that juice to Crush, then I’m sure he’ll, er, crush it.
Crush is set to enter production in Australia this November.
