Love the look of Jason in ‘Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood’? Then you’ll want to check out these never-before-seen images!
One thing I always felt that Friday the 13th had over other popular horror franchises was that each film gave Jason Voorhees a totally unique look. A true fashion icon, Jason never showed up in quite the same outfit twice. Ask around, and many, including myself, would probably say the hockey-masked killer’s best wardrobe arrived in Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood.
Not only was New Blood the first appearance of Kane Hodder as Jason, but it marked one of the character’s more gruesome looks. That’s what you get when you have makeup extraordinaire John Carl Buechler behind the camera. The film featured a wet, decomposing Jason with the bone of his spine poking through his tattered clothing. Quite simply, it rocks.
That’s why I was excited to learn that FridayThe13thFranchise.com had discovered an IG account dubbed CampBloodArchives that recently took to socials to share never-before-seen costume test images of Kane Hodder as Jason from New Blood!
Via the site, “The images were acquired from the late John Carl Buechler, who directed The New Blood. These images were digitally scanned from the original photos taken during the production of the film.”
The reel below gets you up close and personal with Hodder in the makeup, looking extra grimy in the old photos.
