Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival is just weeks away, and we’ve already seen all sorts of trailers and gameplay footage. It looks like a crazy, authentic Hellraiser game, complete with Doug Bradley (Hellraiser) returning as the iconic Pinhead!
But the biggest story for me is Clive Barker himself being involved in shaping the story. That, coupled with Bradley’s return, has me excited about how close this could get to the Hellraiser I love.
Blue Thunder Gaming recently shared a hands-on breakdown, calling Hellraiser: Revival “by far the most disturbing and depraved game that I have ever played.”
The preview also lays out the setup for everyone who’s been dying to know. You play as Aidan Lynch, whose girlfriend, Sunny, activates a new puzzle box called the Genesis Configuration. It summons the Cenobites, and things go very, very wrong.
“They literally tear her in half, take her into another realm called the Labyrinth, and it’s your job to save her,” Blue Thunder Gaming explains.
Game director Emil Esov also confirmed that gruesome opening on the PlayStation Blog, explaining that Aidan discovers Sunny’s soul can still be saved.
Blue Thunder Gaming’s session began inside an underground BDSM club, with brutal combat involving firearms, melee weapons, and the Genesis Configuration’s supernatural abilities. The puzzle box is something you’ll actually wield as you fight your way through this nightmare. Watch below.
