Black Fawn Films has released a trailer for ghost story ‘Death of a Yellow Bird’ ahead of its world premiere at Fantastic Fest.
Fantastic Fest is returning to Austin, Texas, this fall, taking over the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar from September 17-24, 2026. As always, the festival is packed with world premieres, major genre releases, and the kind of completely unexpected discoveries that make it one of our favorite places to find what’s next in horror.
One of those included in this year’s massive lineup might be the World Premiere of Death of a Yellow Bird. Black Fawn Films released a teaser today that hints at an unsettling ghost story with heavy atmospherics.
The supernatural horror film comes from director Cody Calahan and Black Fawn Films, the team behind last year’s fantastic Undertone.
Death of a Yellow Bird follows a dying man who returns to his childhood home to record a series of messages for his son. But what begins as an attempt to leave something behind takes a supernatural turn when he discovers a presence haunting the isolated cabin.
Described as an emotional ghost story, that’s apparent in the teaser below. Give it a look, and keep an eye out for this one.
