Shudder Acquires Santa Vampire Comedy ‘Red Snow’
Shudder is set for a very bloody Christmas, as the streamer has acquired Santa vampire horror comedy ‘Red Snow’.

The holidays are about to get a lot bloodier thanks to Shudder.
That’s because Variety reports that the horror streaming service has acquired the Santa Claus vampire comedy Red Snow.
“In Finland, sixteen-year-old emo teen Johanna dreams of a glittering twilight vampire prince. What she gets instead is Martti — a balding, beer-bellied 49-year-old bloodsucker who slips into a Santa suit to gain entry to homes and devour entire families.
“When Johanna crosses paths with Martti on Christmas Eve, she thinks her dark fairy tale has come true. But instead of eternal romance, she finds herself trapped in a horrific and bloody nightmare of aging masculinity, family trauma, and festive slaughter. By morning, the snow will turn red.”
The film hails from Finnish filmmaker Ilja Rautsi.
Red Snow marks Rautsi’s directorial debut, following award-winning and bloody shorts Helsinki Mansplaining Massacre and Night of the Living Dicks.
As a screenwriter, he’s also behind Sundance success Hatching and Nightborn with Rupert Grint, which recently premiered at the Berlinale’s main competition.
Red Snow stars Hannu-Pekka Björkman, Anni Iikkanen, Tommi Korpela, Krista Kosonen and Kari Hietalahti.
Said Rautsi, “Red Snow comes from my lifetime of love for all things horror, so I’m beyond thrilled to have the film be so widely available on Shudder. It’s a splattery Christmas present made by freaks for freaks. I couldn’t hope for a better home.”
Say no more, Rautsi. I am that freak, and I can’t wait for Red Snow to paint the holidays red.
Red Snow will arrive on Shudder at an undisclosed date.
