They Follow has wrapped filming, bringing the long-awaited sequel to It Follows another step closer to the screen.
David Robert Mitchell returns to write and direct, with Maika Monroe (Watcher) reprising her role as Jay. The sequel takes place a decade after the original, though further plot details remain under wraps. Disasterpeace also returns to compose the score.
Joining Monroe are Naomi Ackie (Blink Twice) and Jackie Earle Haley (A Nightmare on Elm Street), alongside Justine Lupe (Succession), Michael Gandolfini (Daredevil: Born Again), Anna Mirodin (Ivan), Jayne Taini (Unbelievable), Tom Pecinka (Stereophonic), Melora Walters (Magnolia), Ben Krieger (Song Sung Blue), Natalie Shinnick (The Brutalist), and Jan Hoag (The Fabelmans). Deadline previously reported the casting additions.
The original follows a young woman pursued by a supernatural entity after a sexual encounter, forcing her to navigate a curse that can be passed from person to person.
Mitchell produces alongside Neon’s Tom Quinn, Good Fear Content’s Jake Weiner and Chris Bender, and returning It Follows producers David Kaplan, Erik Rommesmo, Rebecca Green, and Laura Smith.
After years of sequel talk, knowing They Follow is actually in the can feels pretty damn good.
