‘Beware Boiúna’ Clip: A Giant Snake Capsizes Jessica Rothe’s Boat!

You’re going to need a bigger boat. And probably a different fucking river.

Lionsgate has shared a new clip from Beware Boiúna, arriving exclusively in theaters October 2, that shows just how much damage its massive snake can do. Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day) and Kiana Madeira (Fear Street) are caught aboard a stranded boat when Boiúna comes calling, completely capsizing the vessel.

It’s a pretty spectacular demonstration of the creature’s size and strength. Having caught the film’s world premiere at Fantastic Fest, I can tell you it’s only a taste of how crazy this movie gets.

Director Mike P. Nelson takes the giant-snake premise seriously, delivering a dark, nasty survival horror movie about being trapped in the Amazon with something capable of swallowing you whole. It’s gory, vicious, and pulls no punches, with plenty of other wild shit waiting in the jungle.

Nelson has always been a filmmaker willing to take an unexpected left turn. From Wrong Turn to Silent Night, Deadly Night, and even his contribution to our own V/H/S/85, he finds ways to push familiar setups somewhere strange. That makes him a pretty fun choice to unleash a colossal snake on a medical mission.

Our own Matt Konopka also caught the premiere, awarding the film 3.5 stars in his Fantastic Fest review. While he had reservations about the pacing and supporting characters, he praised its brutality and called it “the scariest giant snake movie yet.”

The story follows a medical mission deep in the Amazon that becomes a desperate fight for survival when an ancient predator awakens to reclaim her territory. Logan Marshall-Green (Upgrade) also stars.
