Shudder Sinks Its Fangs into Vampire Horror ‘Sundown’

Shudder has sunk its fangs into Rebekah McKendry‘s (Glorious) vampire movie Sundown, reports Variety.

The film follows three generations of women who reunite at a remote cabin to avenge the death of a loved one, only to discover that the man they’ve captured isn’t who he appears to be—and that his family is rapidly closing in, waiting for sundown.

The cast includes Olwen Fouéré (The Watchers), Camille Sullivan (Hunter Hunter), and Summer H. Howell (Mike Flanagan’s Carrie).

McKendry directs from a script by Joshua Hull and David Ian McKendry, the trio who previously collaborated on cosmic horror glory hole head fuck Glorious.

Said McKendry, “The town in Sundown feels very much like the hometown of my youth, and its family squabbles are ones I know all too well. I am both a daughter and a mother, and this film allowed me to explore female relationships inspired by my own life while celebrating my deep love of ’80s vampire movies. Add monsters, revenge, and a sharp dose of acerbic wit, and this became a passion project for me. Even while trudging through two feet of snow in temperatures as low as -40 degrees, our cast, crew, and producers never stopped giving this film everything they had.”

McKendry’s passion for horror always screams off the screen in her work. I was immediately charmed by her debut, All the Creatures Were Stirring, and had a blast with the utterly insane . So you better believe I can’t wait to watch her stake a claim in the vampire genre.
