‘Don’t Breathe 3’: Fede Álvarez Announces New Script With Jane Levy and Stephen Lang Returning

Rocky and the Blind Man aren’t finished with each other.

At last night’s tenth-anniversary screening of Don’t Breathe at Beyond Fest, Fede Álvarez revealed that Don’t Breathe 3 is in the works, with a script he’s written and Jane Levy (Evil Dead) and Stephen Lang (Avatar) returning.

The September 26 celebration took place at the MUBI Theatre at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica. The American Cinematheque’s event listing included Álvarez, co-writer Rodo Sayagues, Levy, Lang, and Dylan Minnette (Scream) for the Q&A.

Álvarez and Levy first teamed up on 2013’s Evil Dead, where she played Mia, a young woman trying to overcome addiction whose stay at a remote cabin becomes a nightmare of demonic possession. She went through absolute fucking hell and emerged as one of modern horror’s most memorable survivors.

Following that film’s success, they reunited for Don’t Breathe, trading supernatural carnage for something horribly human. Stephen Lang’s Blind Man…

Released in August 2016, the film follows three young burglars who break into a blind veteran’s Detroit home, believing they’ve found an easy target. Instead, they find themselves trapped with a man whose capabilities—and secrets—are far more terrifying than they anticipated. Levy’s Rocky wants the money to escape her abusive home with her younger sister. Surviving the robbery becomes another matter entirely.
