Following its Fantastic Fest premiere, The Cycle is heading to Shudder on October 23, and the full trailer comes with one hell of an endorsement from Stephen King.
“A terrific fright flick—The Thing meets The Silence of the Lambs,” reads King’s quote featured in the trailer.
Listen, King likes a lot of things. But that particular combination is the sweet sauce.
The Cycle comes from Jordan Downey, one of my favorite up-and-coming filmmakers, who directed the criminally underrated, do-it-yourself horror film The Head Hunter. He also gave us “Stork,” one of my favorite segments we’ve made for V/H/S/Beyond. Now he’s back with another feature, and this thing looks gnarly.
The trailer is super grisly and promises some serious gore and terror. Honestly, it’s one of the best trailer edits I’ve seen from Shudder in a while. Between Downey’s involvement and what’s on display here, this looks like a must-see.
Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood, Daredevil) and Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice) star in the film, which follows an estranged daughter investigating her father’s dark past after his body turns up at the scene of a horrific crime. The problem? He’s been missing for thirty-six years.
