‘Whalefall’ Has a Ridiculous Whale Popcorn Bucket, and Regal Is Giving It Away With Early 4DX Admission

Regal is giving Whalefall an early 4DX screening on October 14, and admission includes a complimentary Whalebucket and popcorn, while supplies last. Yes, you can watch Austin Abrams (Resident Evil, Weapons) struggle to escape a whale while eating popcorn out of one.

Whalefall is just weeks away, and after Resident Evil, I’m excited to see Abrams carry this survival nightmare from inside a whale’s stomach. It’s one of my most anticipated movies of the year, and Regal’s promotion looks like a pretty fun way to make an event out of it.

For anyone unfamiliar with 4DX, Regal describes an experience that combines motion and vibrating seats with effects including water, wind, lighting, and scents, synchronized with the movie. Getting tossed around and sprayed with water during a movie about being swallowed by a whale sounds both hilarious and fun.

And then there’s the bucket itself.

It’s a full-blown whale-shaped popcorn container, with a lid on its back that opens so you can eat directly out of its body. There’s even a little diver attached to its side.

I don’t know where you put this; I joke about it all the time, but it’s still fun seeing the popcorn-bucket gimmicks theaters keep coming up with. This one is hilarious.

For anyone who can’t make the early screening, Regal says the Whalebucket goes on sale October 15 at select locations, while supplies last, and comes with a large popcorn. That’s a separate offer from the complimentary bucket included with the early-access admission.
