The spider infestation in Crawlers officially comes with an R rating.
The MPA has rated the upcoming horror film R for “violent content/bloody images, language and brief sexual material.”
Matilda Lutz (Revenge) stars as Serena, an apartment-complex manager whose discovery of a mysterious death leads to a much bigger problem: venomous spiders are rapidly taking over the building. With the residents trapped under quarantine, Serena must put her knowledge of the property to work while confronting her own arachnophobia.
Ángel Gómez Hernández directs from a screenplay by Jayson Rothwell (Silent Night).
We previously shared the film’s red-band trailer, which I admitted I had to skip through in places because the spiders looked a little too real for my comfort. The appeal was that it looked completely over-the-top while playing the nightmare surprisingly straight.
More recently, Dread Central shared a new image, offering another look inside the web-covered building.
Roadside Attractions and Saban Films will release it in theaters on October 16.
