The latest addition to Michael Dougherty’sSam: The Soul of Halloween comes from a channel that creates atmospheric Halloween videos, and it’s gorgeous. An orange haze fills the scene, looking like either sunrise or sunset, as a crow caws in the background. The camera slowly pushes toward a Sam doll hanging from a tree. That’s all it needs.
Another little reminder that it’s Halloween season, with more of these treats coming throughout October, all the way up to the 31st.
As we detailed in our launch coverage, the Trick ’r Treat filmmaker has invited artists and filmmakers to interpret Sam in their own styles through new shorts, artwork, and collaborations. The celebration also marks 30 years since the character first appeared in Dougherty’s animated short Season’s Greetings.
We kicked things off with the first short, featuring Sam in a graveyard as ghosts rose around him. Now we get this gorgeous orange haze and a quiet moment with Halloween’s favorite little guardian.
