“We could be a happy familyyyyyy.”
There’s only one movie I want to see in theaters this weekend, and it’s Other Mommy. Every trailer and every spot has been perfection, and this latest tease gives Jessica Chastain (Mama, It Chapter Two) one delicious line that sends it.
Universal Pictures and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster have released another lightning-paced TV spot ahead of the film’s October 9 theatrical opening. There are just a few little pieces of new footage, but Chastain’s promise of a happy family is plenty. She looks fucking terrifying in this movie.
Directed by Rob Savage (Host, The Boogeyman), Other Mommy adapts Josh Malerman’s novel Incidents Around the House. The story follows a young girl named Bela, played by Arabella Olivia Clark, whose already troubled family faces a sinister presence. Chastain plays both her mother and the entity known as Other Mommy. Jay Duplass also stars, with James Wan producing.
We’ve been following the previous trailers, and this looks like the perfect way to kick off spooky season. I’m convinced this is going to be a winner. Even if the movie ends up being mid, watching Chastain go this creepy looks like it could be worth the trip alone.
Other Mommy opens exclusively in theaters this Friday, October 9.
