Ryan Murphy has revealed some details on his upcoming vampire series, including the title, ‘Brides of Blood’.
American Horror Story Season 13 premiered on FX and Hulu nearly two weeks ago. So, it should come as no surprise that creator Ryan Murphy is already discussing his next project.
We already knew Murphy was working on a vampire series. At the time, we didn’t have many other details to sink our fangs into. Now we do.
Murphy recently sat with Vanity Fair, where he revealed some juicy details regarding his vampire series.
Said Murphy, “I’m making a vampire tale called Brides of Blood, so I can pay homage to my grandmother and what she loved—what we loved together. There’s always something for everybody. Maybe American Horror Story is not your cup of tea, but maybe you want to watch something that’s just like a white wine fun show, like All’s Fair. I’ve got something for you.“
That sure sounds like a series based around Dracula’s brides from Bram Stoker’s 1987 novel, Dracula. We’ve seen all sorts of iterations of the Brides over the years, from the 1960 The Brides of Dracula (pictured above), to House of Darkness starring Justin Long (underrated, in my opinion). Of course, the most popular example is Francis Ford Coppola’s 1992 take on Dracula. Though the Brides aren’t featured prominently in the film, they are the scariest and most visually striking examples of the characters.
Sorry, Brides of Van Helsing.
Production on Brides of Blood is set to begin production this December in Europe.
For now, check out Murphy’s American Horror Story Season 13 on FX and Hulu.
