We’ve already seen some exploding sheep heads in the trailer for Black Sheeps. Now, a handful of brand-new official stills give us another look at the zany horror-comedy sequel ahead of its world premiere at the Sitges Film Festival this October.
Twenty years after Black Sheep, Jonathan King returns to New Zealand for another round of genetically modified animal horror. And based on what we’ve seen so far, this is going to get pretty fucking weird.
The first trailer was goofy and over the top, with moments where the silliness cranked up to ten in ways that didn’t entirely work for me. But then they shoved a shotgun in an infected sheep’s mouth and blew its head clean off, and suddenly I was all in.
An infected sheep freaking out inside a car, people getting bitten in the neck, multiple exploding heads. It’s got that goofy, silly energy that a certain kind of horror fan absolutely loves. And when it comes to the gore, it looks like they deliver in spades.
This time, a young scientist investigating a dangerous new pathogen traces it to her hometown, which sits in the shadow of the remote sheep station where the original film’s carnage unfolded. Genetically modified sheep are once again a very bad thing for everyone nearby.
Nathan Meister returns alongside key members of the original production team, with the filmmakers describing the shoot as a “gory and hilarious ride.”
