One of my favorite horror movies of all time is turning 30, and this is a pretty fucking great way […]

But none of the sequels have matched the original for me.
I was 16 when I saw Scream in the theater. We went multiple times. I remember going back again during the holidays, and it’s become one of those movies I constantly revisit. Craven and Kevin Williamson made a slasher that understood exactly how we talked about horror movies while still scaring the shit out of us. Knowing the rules didn’t make you safe.

And as much as I love Quentin Tarantino, he can go fuck himself on the subject of Matthew Lillard. Tarantino’s dismissive comments about Lillard certainly don’t reflect how a lot of us feel about him. He was one of our favorite actors growing up, and his “overperformance” at the end of Scream is one of the best parts of the entire fucking movie.
Thirty years later, I still love watching him lose his mind in that kitchen. Now we can revisit it with a blood-spattered cordless phone of our own.
