Halloween can’t come fast enough. Apparently, Sam agrees.
Michael Dougherty (Trick ’r Treat, Krampus) has released another animated short through Sam: The Soul of Halloween, and this time our favorite little trick-or-treater is just Killing Time.
The 60-second short finds an adorable Sam impatiently waiting for Halloween as an hourglass filled with candy corn slowly counts down. With it only being October 7 and more than three full weeks still to go, I certainly feel that anticipation.
Thankfully, we have more Sam shorts coming throughout the month to help with the wait.
As we detailed in our launch coverage, Sam: The Soul of Halloween brings together new shorts, artwork, and collaborations celebrating 30 years since Sam first appeared in Dougherty’s animated short Season’s Greetings. The project invites artists and filmmakers to explore the character in their own styles, giving us these little Halloween treats all October long.
Dougherty directs Killing Time, with Breehn Burns serving as animation director. Burns and Ye Aung handle the animation, with character design by Rory Dise. Executive producers are Burns, Dougherty, Evan Gorski, and Curtis Waugh.
Watch Sam wait considerably less patiently than the rest of us below.
